Zen Bodytherapy® is a system of bodywork and somatic education whose goals are to align and balance a person's physical structure, function and energy.  Throughout our lives, every day - all day, gravity acts upon us either assisting us in our activities or weighing us down.  How our bodies are aligned determine which.  A body that is vertically well aligned within the earth's gravity field has to exert far less effort throughout the day of one's muscles and reflexes.

There are ten sessions of Zen Bodytherapy. In the sessions, the body’s segments are systematically realigned, organized and balanced in relation to themselves and the earth’s field of gravity.  Not having to fight gravity to stand vertically and move in all directions life demands, helps free up our energy to live our lives more fully.

Additionally, Zen Bodytherapy® utilizes Dr. Wilhelm Reich's discovery of "character armoring." Reich, a student and contempory of Sigmund Freud, found that when we hold on to something mentally, that there is a corsponding pattern of muscular tennsion somewhere in the body. He found that over time experiences, thoughts and emotions not fully resolved, accumulated in our bodies causing the muscle and connective tissue to become rigid and distorted.

Dr. Reich found that with the manipulation of soft tissue and a willing client one could remove the body's character armoring. This is also the basis for other forms of healing such as SomatoEmotional Release® by John Upledger, D.O., and Bio Electrical Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) Chiropractic by M.T. Morter, Jr., D.C., to name a couple. Zentherapy®, Zen Triggerpoint Anatomy®, Zen Bodytherapy®
As a certified practitioner of Zen Bodytherapy® and Zen Triggerpoint Anatomy®, it has been My great fortune and honor to have been worked on, personally trained by and Certified By Dub Leigh, both in 1993 and again in 1997. Since then I have strove to uphold his good name and that of Zentherapy® while incorporating the best of my experiences and training from my continued studies and practice. How people cope with stress, as well as, personality structure and development were and have been a great interest of mine prior to, durring and after I earned my degree in psychology and Stress Management Certification. I strive to bring all this and more into every Zentherapy® session.
